Last “Christmas Diary Entry” of 2016
My last post for 2016 is a Christmas diary entry written by Mary Kemble and found on www.publicdomainreview.org. I haven’t determined if she is any relation to the famous Fanny Kemble, British actress, abolitionist and author, but they lived in the same era–nineteenth century, during the American Civil War. If you can shed any light on her identity, I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
The drawing is of the Drury Lane Theatre in 1804–to give a sense of a “crammed theatre” around the time of Ms. Kemble’s writing. (Credit to British History Online.)
Meanwhile, hope your 2017 is amazing and I’ll see you on the other side!

I liked this one, too. I think you have a very pleasant reading voice. I can’t “shed any light” on her identity. Q. Did she write anything that was performed in that theater?
